ONGOING SERIES OSCAR ® SUNDAYS SUNDAYS | 7:30PM

This ongoing series celebrates films that have been honored at the Academy Awards. Over the summer, we’re celebrating the centennial of Columbia Pictures with a collection of films produced by the studio over its 100-year history that have been nominated for, or won, Best Picture—with the exception of our final title of the season (we just had to highlight one of the most innovative animated films of the past decade!). Most titles are screening in restored 4K versions, with a handful of exciting formats sprinkled throughout. Programmed by K.J. Relth-Miller. Notes by Robert Reneau. Special thanks to Dave Jennings and Richard Ashton at Sony Pictures.

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb in 4K Sun, Jun 2 | 7:30pm | DGT Stanley Kubrick’s comedy has been frequently imitated but never surpassed as a dark cinematic satire and a witty depiction of Cold War tensions. Peter Sellers received a Best Actor nomination for his hilarious performance in three roles—the hapless US President Merkin Muffley, the well-meaning Royal Air Force officer Lionel Mandrake, and the sinister scientist Dr. Strangelove. Also nominated for Best Picture, Directing, and Adapted Screenplay, the film benefits from the stark black-and-white cinematography of Gilbert Taylor ( Star Wars ) and the iconic production design of two-time Oscar winner Ken Adam, whose War Room was described by Steven Spielberg as “the best movie set ever built.” DIRECTED BY: Stanley Kubrick. WRITTEN BY: Stanley Kubrick, Peter George, Terry Southern. WITH: Peter Sellers, George C. Scott, Sterling Hayden, Keenan Wynn. 1964. 95 min. UK. B&W. English. Rated PG. 4K DCP.

Screenplay—is a rollicking romantic comedy that is as charming and delightful as when it was released nine decades ago. Claudette Colbert is the heiress fleeing her controlling father, and Clark Gable is the down- on-his-luck reporter who sees Colbert as his ticket to the big time until he unexpectedly finds himself falling for her. One in a string of hits directed by Frank Capra for Columbia Pictures, its success helped establish the studio as an industry force to be reckoned with. DIRECTED BY: Frank Capra. WRITTEN BY: Robert Riskin. WITH: Clark Gable, Claudette Colbert, Walter Connolly, Roscoe Karns. 1934. 105 min. USA. B&W. English. 4K DCP. You Can’t Take It with You in 4K Sun, Jun 23 | 7:30pm | DGT One of over a dozen collaborations between one-time Academy president Frank Capra and vaudeville- enthusiast-turned-screenwriter Robert Riskin, this wholesome rom-com finds wealthy, straitlaced bank vice- president Tony Kirby (James Stewart) head-over-heels for his stenographer Alice Sycamore (Jean Arthur), the only “normal” member in her family of eccentrics. What chaos will ensue when the parents meet?! Nominated in seven categories, the film won Best Picture and Directing, turning Capra into a three-time winner in
