When Sam Flynn follows a clue to the whereabouts of his long-missing father, computer programmer Kevin Flynn, he finds himself digitized and transported to the virtual world of The Grid, where sentient programs battle for their lives. Joseph Kosinski ( Top Gun: Maverick ) made his feature directing debut with this long-awaited sequel to the 1982 cult classic Tron , updating its groundbreaking imagery with state- of-the-art visual effects and 3D cinematography. This beautifully imagined retelling of the 18th century fairy tale by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont is a contemporary classic that became the first animated feature to receive a Best Picture nomination. In this “tale as old as time,” young Belle becomes the prisoner of the cursed, reclusive Beast in order to rescue her father, only to unexpectedly fall in love with her lonely captor. The top-notch vocal cast includes the legendary Angela Lansbury (as the teapot cook Mrs. Potts) performing the Oscar-winning title song. Alan Menken’s score was also an Oscar winner, with additional nominations going to the film’s sound and the songs “Be Our Guest” and “Belle” by Menken and Howard Ashman. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Sun, Aug 27 | 7:30pm | DGT

Wakanda is mourning the death of its leader, T’Challa, only to face a new and powerful threat. The unexpected passing of Chadwick Boseman threatened to put an end to the Black Panther series, but writer-director Ryan Coogler and his collaborators came up with an inspired way to continue the story while honoring the legacy of its beloved star. Costume designer Ruth E. Carter became the first Black woman to receive two Academy Awards by following her Black Panther win with an Oscar for her new creations.
