When a young Parisian rat named Remy is separated from his family, he gets the chance to achieve his unlikely dream of becoming a master chef in this Pixar production from writer-director Brad Bird. Patton Oswalt leads a stellar voice cast including the legendary Peter O’Toole as the food critic Anton Ego, whose climactic monologue is one of the film’s many highlights. Winner of the 2007 Animated Feature Film Oscar, the film also received nominations for its original screenplay, sound editing, sound mixing, and for Michael Giacchino’s Gallic-flavored score. A young lion struggles to find the courage to fight for his late father’s kingdom in this beautifully animated modern Disney classic. Led by directors Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, the animation team created gorgeous vistas of the African landscape and memorable animal characters, including the villainous Scar (voiced by Jeremy Irons) and the lovable Timon and Pumbaa (Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella). Hans Zimmer won the Oscar for his stirring score, and three of Elton John and Tim Rice’s original songs were nominated, with the ballad “Can You Feel The Love Tonight?” winning the award. THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG (2009)

This traditionally animated musical inspired by E. D. Baker’s book The Frog Princess , itself a reimagining of the Brothers Grimm classic The Frog Prince , moves the story to 1920s New Orleans and is the first of Disney’s animated features to center Black characters. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, the team responsible for such modern classics as The Little Mermaid (1989) and Aladdin (1992) , the film received nominations for Animated Feature Film and for two of the original songs by score composer Randy Newman, “Almost There” and “Down In New Orleans.” DIRECTED BY: John Musker, Ron Clements.
