its special effects, black-and-white art direction, and black- and-white cinematography, The Absent Minded Professor was the first Disney film to inspire a sequel—1963’s Son of Flubber —and was remade in 1997 with Robin Williams, titled simply Flubber. The 1883 children’s novel by Carlo Collodi inspired the second animated feature produced by The Walt Disney Company, one of the studio’s most enduring classics. This tale of the lonely woodcutter Geppetto and his puppet who longs to be “a real boy” features some of the most vivid imagery in the Disney canon, including the colossal Monstro and Lampwick’s startling transformation scene. The film earned two Oscars, for the original score by Leigh Harline, Paul J. Smith, and Ned Washington, and the song “When You Wish Upon A Star” by Harline and Washington. The Parent Trap Sat, Jun 17 | 11am | TMT

Hayley Mills stars in a dual role in this family comedy classic, as identical twins separated by divorce who accidentally reconnect at summer camp and plot to reunite their parents (Maureen O’Hara and Brian Keith). This heartwarming farce was one of the top box office hits of its year, and decades later Mills reprised her roles for three TV movie sequels; Lindsay Lohan starred in a hit big screen remake in 1998. The film features original songs by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman ( Mary Poppins ), and received Oscar nominations for its film editing and sound. DIRECTED/WRITTEN BY: David Swift.
